Building Stronger Communities - One Project at a Time
Community Education Group has expanded its service provision to include pregnancy prevention among 17-24 year olds coupled with HIV, STD and substance abuse prevention. Community Education Group targets young adults in the communities of Wards 7 and 8 of the District where high rates of teenage and young adult pregnancy and birth rates are found. CEG implements evidence-based programs that have been proven through rigorous evaluation to reduce young adult pregnancy, behavioral risks for underlying teenage pregnancy, and other associated risk factors. Key components are to ensure programs are age appropriate and address the systemic and social challenges which face Black young adults, including but not limited to developing better health models which not only address HIV, STDs/STIs and early sexual debut, but also systemic issues such as educational attainment, employment and nutrition.
