The HIV/HCV Preparedness Training is a four hour, self paced CME program developed by Community Education Group in partnership with Carilion Clinic. It is designed to strengthen the ability of healthcare providers to confidently screen, diagnose, treat, and prevent HIV and Hepatitis C in rural and underserved communities.

The training supports clinical readiness across high need regions of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virginia and is open to MDs, DOs, NPs, and PAs who can earn four CME credits upon completion of all modules and the required surveys. Providers begin by completing a mandatory pre survey and are then enrolled in the 360Learning platform, where they receive access to the full curriculum and can complete the coursework on their own schedule throughout the training period.

The program equips participants with practical skills to expand HIV and HCV testing and prevention within their practice, offers clinical guidance on diagnosing and managing Hepatitis C, and provides HIV prevention strategies including PrEP and PEP. Participants also receive access to the Hepatitis C e consult service operated through Carilion Clinic, which offers additional clinical support as they implement best practices.

The training is available to providers across an extensive service area that includes counties throughout West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virginia in order to increase access to high quality infectious disease education. Providers who complete all modules and the post training survey by the program deadline receive four CME credits. The program also encourages referrals and offers incentives for each MD, DO, NP, or PA who enrolls and completes the training through a participant’s recommendation.
