We Are Appalachia is Community Education Group’s (CEG) Initiative for promoting public awareness of Appalachian cultural heritage, the public health syndemic in Appalachia, issues of substance use disorder in Appalachia, and the education of consumers and providers on health technologies to address the syndemic in Appalachia. CEG strengthens the community through our two programs: CHAMPS and the Appalachian Partnership Consortium.
CHAMPS (Community Health and Mobilization Prevention Services) is the Community Education Group’s signature educational program, designed to train Community Health Workers (CHWs) throughout Appalachia, thus creating an intersection between Appalachian cultural heritage and public health training to fight against the syndemic in Appalachia.
The Appalachian Partnership Consortium is CEG’s monthly meeting for coordinating partnership in the field of Appalachian cultural heritage, the public health syndemic in Appalachia, issues of substance use disorder in Appalachia, and the education of consumers and providers on health technologies to address the syndemic in Appalachia. Finally, Community Education Group is dedicated to workforce development, specifically through job placement services with workforce development partners. Providing referrals for service providers of general educational development, high school diploma preparation, testing services, vocational and technical training services, and internship placement services.
